    Bloom Energy looks to be a very interesting company. They make natural gas powered fuel cells based on a solid oxide electrolyte. The website has a datasheet that shows the output capability of 100 kW. This unit seems to be for commercial application. It would be interesting to see a residential unit provide heat, hot water, and electricity as a replacement for present heating (HVAC)systems. Does anyone know if this is particle with this type of technology? I would love to outfit my home with a 3-5 kW unit as a backup power system.

    Using the fuel cell technogy as the primary source of energy would be better and have the electric company source be your back up.

    It's intersting that Colin Powell is on the board for the company. What does he bring to the table, anyone know?
