This short video describes the March 8-10, 2012 solar storm that hit the Earth. The Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) imparted 26 GWh of energy to the atmosphere. 95% of this energy was reflected back into space by the carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide in the atmosphere.
