Mad Scientist 101: A New MIT Class Aims To Turn Science Fiction Tech Into The Real Thing. According to the course
syllabus there are eight sections where you read authors on a particular topic and then design technology based on the themes. The topics include:
- AR / VR / SIMULATION / SIMULACRA / NETWORKS / NEUROTRIBE / POST-GEOGRAPHIC
- CITY DYNAMICS / SURVEILLANCE / UTOPIA / DYSTOPIA
- AI / NANOTECH
- CYBORGS / TRANSHUMANISM
- ARTS
- INTERFACES / WEARABLES
- Ancient beliefs & future tech/culture/society/behavior in general (Or: Science Fiction isn’t about the future)
