Stanford University is offering the new course Principles and Practices of Gene Therapy online now. Tuition is $495 for 90 day access to the course and is an elective course in the Stanford Genetics and Genomics Certificate.

Professor Julia Greer from the California Institute of Technology describes the 3D Architechted Nano Metamaterials in this TED talk. She describes her research at building macroscale materials with a 3D nano architecture that is both light and strong (low density and high strength).

edX is offering the course ISSCC Previews: Circuit and System Insights on Dec 1, 2014 and last 13 weeks. The course was developed by the IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) and covers topic from the their conferences. These topics include I/O, analog, digital, memory, wireless, wired, and ADC design.

edX is offering the new course Introduction to Graphene Science and Technology beginning March 23, 2015. The course lasts 10 weeks and was developed by Chalmers University of Technology and Graphene Flagship.

Lipodox is considered the first generic nanodrug approved in the US and it is used to ovarian cancer. Sun Pharma Global FZE received FDA approval in one year (1/3 the time) which is unusual in the industry and a fascinating story.

MIT Postdoc Shaloo Rakheja gave a very informative talk on The Role of Graphene in Semiconductor Technologies this year at Purdue University. Topics of her talk include:

• Graphene interconnects
• Graphene analog RF circuits
• Graphene frequency doublers
• Graphene photonics

Most of Shaloo's talk covers the virtual source model for graphene FETs.

Knight Lab has posted a timeline of graphene product development beginning in 2015 with printable electronic tags, and ending in 2017 with graphene electronics. The image below is of an artificial retna from Technische Universität München which is expected in 2021.

The October 2014 issue of Nature Nanotechnology focuses on graphene applications. This issues covers graphene applications, spectroscopy, and material properties.

NIST has produce a 2 nm silicon nanoparticles to be used as a measurement reference standard. The RM 8027 silicon nanoparticles are available now and are sold in 5 ampoules x 1mL for $743.

Stanford is offering a new certificate in Genetics and Genomics now. Students must complete two core courses and four elective courses which are offered online and are self paced. The core courses include:

• Fundamentals of Genetics: The Genetics You Need to Know (XGEN101)
• Genomics and the Other Omics: The Comprehensive Essentials (XGEN102)

Only one elective courses is available now:

• Principles and Practices of Gene Therapy (XGEN201)

New elective courses should be available soon on the following topics:

• Agricultural biotechnology
• Cancer genomics
• Stem cells
• Personalized genomics
• Pharmagenomics
• Synthetic biology

The total estimate cost for the six courses is very reasonable too.
