GAO report on US nanomanufacturing

The GAO posted the report Nanomanufacturing:
Emergence and Implications for U.S. Competitiveness, the Environment, and Human Health
in January. The report indicates that the US is leading in nanotechnology R&D but faces some difficult challenges:
  • Lack of US leadership of international standards
  • Lack of US nanomanufacturing vision
  • Funding gaps
  • Aggressive competitor nations
The US has invested $20B to date since the National Nanotechnology Initiative (2001) was started in 2001. Nanotechnology is projected to have a major economic and social impact in the future. It is important to maintain our lead in this area.

Analog Aficionados party 2014

The 5th annual Analog Aficionados party 2014 will be held Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 5 to 9 PM. It is at David's Restaurant in Santa Clara near the golf course. Over 150 people made last year's party and 230 people are registers so far. Many people from the analog community attend the party. Bob Pease, Jim Williams and Hans Camenzind are to be honored.

ISSCC 2013 Video archive

The ISSCC 2013 demo video archive is available and shows live demonstrations of selected ICs that were also presented by authors in regular paper sessions at the conference. IC demonstrations include processors, multi-core processors, CNT FET touch sensors, video decoders and processors, audio amplifiers, wireless communication chipsets, epileptic seizure control chip, and image sensors.

2014 NanoDays Digital Kits

The 2014 NanoDays Digital Kits are now available for download. The kits contain all the information necessary to demonstrate nanotechnology to kids of all ages. Projects include electroplating, self assembly, ferrofluids, nano fabrics, liquid crystals, and thin films, for example. Training materials and videos are also available.
